This article is about the Hasbro version. For the Takara Tomy version, see Energy Layer - Inferno Ifrit.

Ifritor I2 is an Energy Layer released by Hasbro as part of the Burst System as well as the Dual Layer System. It debuted in western countries with the release of the Starter Pack Ifritor I2 Magnum Liner.

Description

Hasbro's Ifritor I2 is a triangular Attack Type Energy Layer based on Takara Tomy's Inferno Ifrit. It is virtually identical to its Takara Tomy counterpart, and as such features the same three triangles and three pointed blades creating the primary points of impact. One of the triangles make up the upper jaw and one of the blades makes up the lower jaw of the Layer's namesake.

The pointed shape and direction of the blades creates a high recoil design that is useful for Burst Attack, while the downward slope of the blades allows for small amounts of Force Smash.

Overall

Hasbro's Ifritor I2 is virtually unchanged from Takara Tomy's Inferno Ifrit with the same recoil and Force Smash potential. However, due to using softer plastic, Ifritor I2 does not break like its Takara Tomy counterpart. However, with the release of the SwitchStrike/God Layer System, Ifritor I2 is too light to remain competitive.

As such, Hasbro's Ifritor I2 is recommended for collection purposes only.

Hasbro's Ifritor I2 is too light to compete with other Energy Layers in the format.

As such, Hasbro's Ifritor I2 is recommended for collection purposes only.

Hasbro's Ifritor I2 can be used in Attack Combinations, utilizing its high recoil for Burst Attack potential. While it is outclassed by Valkyrie for Attack Combinations, it does not suffer from the teeth breakage issue of Valkyrie, and thus can be used if mint copies of Valkyrie are unavailable. The use of slopes instead of teeth means Ifritor I2 does not risk having teeth wear like Takara Tomy's Inferno Ifrit. However, like Inferno Ifrit, the contact points still suffer from breakage, and thus Bladers may want to own multiple copies of this Layer.

As such, Hasbro's Ifritor I2 is not a must have but is instead a welcome addition to a blader's collection.
