Maximum Garuda 8Flow Flugel (マキシマムガルーダ・エイトフロー・フリューゲル, Makishimamu Garūda Eito Furō Furyūgeru) is a Stamina Type Beyblade released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the God Layer System. It was released in Japan on July 15th, 2017 for 972円 as the prize Beyblade in Random Booster Vol. 7 Maximum Garuda.8F.Fl.

Energy Layer - Maximum Garuda[]

A right-spin Stamina Type God Layer with five aerodynamic blades that create an upper force while increasing the centrifugal force as the largest Layer in Burst history.
— Official Description

Takara Tomy's Maximum Garuda is a Stamina Type Energy Layer, that features a wide, almost perfectly circular and smooth edge only interrupted by shallow bumps. As part of the God Layer System, Maximum Garuda features a gimmick; connecting the perimeter to the center are five blades that create Upper Force.

In theory the Upper Force will "lift" the Beyblade off of the Stadium and decrease friction between the Performance Tip and the stadium floor to improve Stamina. In practice however, the blades instead create air resistance when spinning and slow the Beyblade down, an issue that becomes exacerbated the harder Maximum Garuda is launched.

Maximum Garuda features only one shallow tooth. The rest of the Layer is supported by shallow slopes akin to those found on Hasbro Energy Layers. While such a feature may imply poor Burst Resistance, the almost perfectly round perimeter creates little to no recoil which prevents both Bursts and Knock-Outs, creates high Life-After-Death and creates high resistance to Spin-Equalization Combinations. Furthermore, despite the air resistance created by the gimmick, this Layer still has high Stamina, capable of Out-Spinning Layers such as Alter Chronos. As a result, Maximum Garuda becomes an ideal Layer for Stamina/Defense Combinations.

Forge Disc - 8[]

Main article: Forge Disc - 8

8, like other even numbered Core Discs, is symmetrical and elliptical in shape in order to facilitate a Disc Frame. Each side features four protrusions, each molded into the shape of an "8". Each of the lower loops of the "8"s features gaps, akin to Knuckle, which takes weight away from the center and creates high Outward Weight Distribution (OWD) and subsequent Flywheel Effect, features theoretically perfect for Stamina. Furthermore, 8 is one of the heaviest Discs in the game, heavier than Heavy, Gravity, 2, 4, and 6 and its use can bolster a Beyblade's Knock-Out Resistance and Attack potential. However, like other heavy discs with high Outward Weight Distribution (OWD) such as Gravity and Ring, the use of 8 severely decreases a Beyblade's Burst Resistance as a trade off.

Disc Frame - Flow[]

Main article: Disc Frame - Flow

Flow is a Disc Frame that features a triangular design with each side featuring three sloped blades, meant to provide Upper Force in Right-Spin and Down Force in Left-Spin. However, the small size of the blades means that the effect is negligible. Compared to Cross, Star and Glaive, Flow’s perimeter is too rough to aid in Life-After-Death in Defense and Stamina Combinations and compared to Vortex, Meteor and Bump, Flow has too little weight to aid in Attack Combinations.

Performance Tip - Flugel[]

Main article: Performance Tip - Flugel

Flugel features a low angled cone tip that sits at the standard height akin to Survive, but differs by featuring four wings, akin to Metal Fight Beyblade's Down Force 145, that offer Upper Force in Right-Spin and Down Force in Left-Spin.

The cone shape gives Flugel low surface area and friction to conserve Stamina in battle while also providing Stability, giving a Combination resistance against the Layer scraping against the Stadium floor and losing Stamina.

In theory, when used in Right-Spin Combinations, the Upper Force would increase Stamina by generating an air current that "lifts" the Beyblade off of the stadium, effectively reducing the friction between Flugel and the stadium. When used in Left-Spin Combinations, the Down Force generated would push the Beyblade down into the stadium and increase Stability at the cost of Stamina. However in practice, the small size of the wings means that any Upper Force or Down Force generated is minimal with no discernible difference in performance.
