This article is about Octa. For its HyperSphere counterpart, see Performance Tip - Octave-H.

Octa (オクタ, Okuta), stylized as Ωcta, is a Performance Tip released by Takara Tomy as part of the Burst System as well as the God Layer System and SwitchStrike System. It debuted in Japan with the release of the B-00 Rare Bey Get Battle Prize Booster, Orichalcum Outer Octa, in August 2017. It later debuted in western countries with the release of Hasbro's SwitchStrike Starter Pack, Orichalcum O3 Outer Octa.

Description

Octa is a driver with an octagonal metal piece and 4 holes and an octagonal shaped pattern that it expands into a dome. The metal piece will make it one of the heaviest drivers implying Knock-Out Resistance. Near Octa’s spring lock, there are bumps, which increase friction on the burst locks causing Burst Resistance. However, there are drawbacks of Octa as well:

First, the heavy weight decreases Octa’s Burst Resistance as a trade-off even with the bumps at the end of the battle where the Octa combination slows down. Second, Octa lacks behind Atomic for Life-After-Death due to the octagonal design which nullifies Life-After-Death. Finally, due to segments on Octa, the tip has poor stamina and lags behind already outclassed tips such as Survive. Despite being a rare item, Octa is useless for tournament play.

Overall

Octa has stamina too poor for Stamina and Defense and has too little aggression for Attack. Despite the Knock-Out Resistance and rarity, the segment pattern and the bulky shape creates a scrape risk makes Octa unsuitable for competitive play.

As such, Octa is recommended for collection purposes only.
