Energy Layer - Kerbeus[]

The motif is of the guard dog of the underworld, Kerbeus. A right-spin Defense Type Layer with a chain blade placed on the outside that catches attacks.
— Official Description

Takara Tomy's Kerbeus is a circular shaped Energy Layer designed for Defense. Kerbeus' center, as the name states, depicts a 3-headed dog-like monster named Cerberus spitting flames. Two of the heads represented by the colored plastic underneath the transparent casing are located on one side, while the third is located on the opposite side. Theoretically, this would leave the Energy Layer unbalanced, but in reality the effect is so minuscule that it shouldn't be considered a fault in competitive play. Kerbeus' rim has 16 protrusions, with half of the protrusions being larger. In theory, this characteristic would grind the opponent's Layer, but in reality it has the reverse effect and that makes it prone to loss by Out-Spin and the uneven surface adds recoil. Kerbeus does, however, have decent Stamina and Defense abilities granted by its circular shape.

It was particularly hard to Burst and had a mostly balanced design but, due to the release of newer Energy Layers, Kerbeus has been overshadowed. These are reasons which add to this Energy Layer's position as now outclassed in all categories.

Forge Disc - Central[]

Main article: Forge Disc - Central

Central features a thickened central ring and a thinned perimeter meant to create Centralized Weight Distribution (CWD). The centralized weight is meant to increase spin velocity which has numerous effects on performance:

If used on Attack Combinations, the higher spin velocity will increase the force of impact. If used on Defense Combinations, the centralized weight will increase Knock-Out Resistance.

While Central has an indent on once side to prevent this Disc from being perfectly balanced, it is not the main downfall of this Disc. What prevents this Disc from being competitive is the light weight which makes any effect from the Centralized Weight Distribution (CWD) negligible at best as there is too little mass for effective Attack potential and too little mass for effective Knock-Out Resistance.

Performance Tip - Defense[]

Main article: Performance Tip - Defense (Burst)

Defense features a ball tip and sits at a standard height. A ring sits halfway down the Performance Tip, and the ball tip has four tabs. The tabs are intended to force the Defense Combination back into an upright position after being knocked off balance and act as brakes to prevent Knock-Outs by striking against the stadium floor at the cost of Stamina. While the ring may imply Defense potential, it is positioned too low for any opposing Beyblade to make contact with. However, the smooth perimeter of the ring does grant Life-After-Death (LAD) potential.
