Kerbeus K2 Limited Press, known in Japan as Kaiser Kerbeus Limited Press (カイザーケルベウス・リミテッド・プレス, Kaizā Kerubeusu Rimiteddo Puresu), is a Defense-Type Beyblade released as part of the Burst System as well as the Dual Layer System. It was released as a Booster in Japan on April 2nd, 2016 for 900円 and was later released in western territories from late 2016 as a Starter Pack.
Energy Layer - Kerbeus K2
Main article: Energy Layer - Kerbeus K2
Kerbeus K2 is a round and thin Energy Layer designed for defense. The center of the Layer depicts three canine heads like the Layer's namesake, the mythological three headed hound Cerberus, each with flames pouring out from the sides of their mouths. Consisting of a chain-like bottom layer and a six bladed top layer, every other "link" in the chain layer protrudes outwards slightly and each blade on the top layer features a large gap in between. While these features may imply that this layer has a lot of recoil, due to its thinness, both layers come into contact with the opposing Beyblade at the same time and cover up each other's gaps, reducing recoil and subsequent stamina loss.
Combined with the teeth of the Japanese release, Kaiser Kerbeus exhibited decent defensive properties in ideal conditions. However this layer exhibits two major weakness.
First, when the Beyblade is knocked off balance, only the top layer will come into contact with the opposing Beyblade, due to the aforementioned large gaps between each blade, Kerbeus K2 will then become very likely to lose by Burst Finish. Thus when using this Energy Layer it is critical to pair it with a Performance Tip with great stability.
Second, the weight distribution of the Layer creates poor Stamina and leaves combinations liable to losses by being out spun.
Forge Disc - Limited
Main article: Forge Disc - Limited
Limited features a diamond shaped design akin to Force. Due to this similar shape, Limited can function identically to Force, but the same factors prevent the Disc from being effective in tournament play. The first is the shape as there are few Layers that benefit from the weight distribution, the second is the small size and thus light weight of the Disc which limits the weight it does distribute.
Performance Tip - Press
Main article: Performance Tip - Press
Press features a ball-shaped tip, much like Defense, but differs by having four significantly wider tabs around its tip compared to Defense's. In theory, these tabs will force the Beyblade back into an upright position after being knocked off balance and act as brakes to prevent Knock-Outs by striking against the stadium floor at the cost of stamina. While such an effect does occur, the wider tabs create greater stamina drain than Defense's with little to no improvement on stability and Knock-Out resistance. The top portion of Press also has four wall protrusions with a spike in the center on the sides of the Performance Tip, but hold no real purpose other than a slight source of stamina loss, since they can also scrape along the stadium floor and are too low to be struck by any Burst System Beyblade.
- Kerbeus' Japanese name, Kaiser Kerbeus, is based form "kaiser", the German word for "emperor", and Cerberus, the three-headed monstrous dog that guards the gates to the Underworld in Greek mythology.
